Vienna, April 27, 2026 – Noreja, the startup founded by Dr. Lukas Pfahlsberger, Dr. Philipp Waibel, and Prof. Dr. Jan Mendling, has successfully closed its €1.1 million funding round. With this fresh capital, the former spin-off of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, based in Vorarlberg, plans to make targeted investments in growth over the coming years and further expand its sales, marketing, and customer success teams.
As part of the round, Noreja was able to attract both existing and new investors and partners.
The participants include, among others:
Markus Neumayr has been an investor from the very beginning and is increasing his commitment as part of the current round. He brings a strong network in the Austrian SME sector as well as decades of experience in the ERP business with Aptean Austria
Jan Sprengnetter: After successfully building his companies and integrating them into the Sprengnetter Group, Jan Sprengnetter steered them through to a successful exit. Since 2014, he has been an angel investor and has invested in more than 20 startups. With his deep expertise in scaling, growth, and business development, he is an extremely valuable partner for Noreja.
Prof. Martin Kaiser contributes valuable connections in the German SME sector as well as many years of experience in building IT and software companies. These included, among others, abtis AG and the deep-tech fund vanagon.vc.
Gordana McNamara brings a wealth of experience from her numerous roles as CCO/CRO in the startup ecosystem and will support Noreja going forward as an advisor specializing in go-to-market strategy and as a fractional CCO.
“With the successful completion of this funding round, we are laying the groundwork for Noreja’s next phase of growth. Together with our investors and partners, we aim to further develop our product and establish Noreja as one of the leading platforms in the field of Generative Process Intelligence,” say Lukas Pfahlsberger and Philipp Waibel.
In addition to its organizational growth, Noreja is consistently advancing its product vision: building the most intelligent process intelligence solution on the market. The technological foundation for this is based on knowledge graphs, which are leveraged by AI to better understand business processes and deliver precise analyses of weaknesses, inefficiencies, and optimization potential. AI agents then take over optimization tasks autonomously. Noreja calls this approach Generative Process Intelligence.
“For AI to create real value in companies, it needs a deep understanding of the underlying process context. Noreja provides exactly these contextual structures and makes business processes systematically understandable for AI. This makes it possible to use information and insights in a targeted way across a wide variety of process-related use cases,” says Jan Mendling.
Noreja would like to thank all investors, advisors, and supporters for their trust and collaboration. Special thanks also go to Brandl & Talos, in particular Adrian Zuschmann and Nina Atanasovska, for their legal support throughout the funding round.
Founded in 2021 by Dr. Lukas Pfahlsberger, Dr. Philipp Waibel, and Prof. Dr. Jan Mendling, Noreja is developing a solution in the area of Generative Process Intelligence. Based on knowledge graphs and AI, the company helps organizations identify process weaknesses more effectively, better understand complex interdependencies, and make optimization potential visible with precision.
